New Hampshire’s small, but beautiful, shoreline running jaggedly north from Hampton Beach to Portsmouth, is a rocky, cold span of coastline that is home to honky tonk boardwalk summer destinations to stately mansions. Somewhere between these extremes are the more humble, solid beach houses built on land kept from being claimed by storms and waves by seawalls which, like the stone walls of inland New Hampshire, were built by hand, years ago, with the simple mission of either keeping something in, or keeping something out.
